Blackberries always bring me back to my childhood. We had bushes lining the whole of our long driveaway. Late summer meant stained fingers and usually clothes as well.
Long summer nights mean you may need a little extra energy. I added some coffee liqueur to this drink as a little pick-me-up. It pairs well with the smoky flavor of the mezcal.
Start by adding 5-6 blackberries, 3-4 sage leaves and your lime juice to a cocktail shaker. Muddle, muddle muddle.
Add some ice and the rest of your ingredients and shake away.
Pour into a coupe glass using a tea strainer. Your teeth will thank your for this step.
The color of this drink was so stunning I went very simple with the garnish. I floated a single sage leaf, which contrasted well with the liquid. Garnishing is really a matter of preference and creativity, so do your thing. Cheers!
