INTRODUCTION

About this Recipe

I don’t have many favorites in life; I like different things for different reasons. Avocados are on my exclusive list of favorite things to eat. They know it, too.

The texture and fresh flavor seemed fitting for a spring and summer cocktail. Turns out this cocktail is a favorite of all my guests. I have to relinquish credit to the ‘cados.
INGREDIENTS

Cocktail

    • 1.5 oz Reposado Tequila
    • 1.5 oz Avocado Purée
    • 0.5 oz Lime Juice
    • 0.5 oz Cointreau
    • .5 oz Jalapeño Infused Agave Syrup
    • Top with Cucumber Soda

Syrup

  • Agave syrup
  • 1 Sliced Jalapeño

DIRECTIONS

Infuse the Syrup

There are two ways to do this depending on your schedule.

  1. Heat up the agave syrup with a 1/4 cup water and simmer with the sliced jalapeños for about 15 minutes. Strain into a bottle.
  2. Add the jalapeño directly to your agave syrup bottle and let it set for at least 24 hours before using.

Purée and Shake

You also have a couple of options for this part. When I first made this cocktail I was adding a small spoonful of avocado to my shaker and shaking it with the other ingredients. It works, but I found I had to shake quite vigorously. Depending on the avocado, sometimes I was still left with little chunks.

If you are able to prep ahead of time, I recommend making a purée with avocado, lime juice, and just a bit of water. You’ll end up with a smoother base, and it’s much easier on the arms.

Shake all ingredients (minus the cucumber soda) with ice. Pour into your favorite glass and top it off with the soda. The candied jalapeños from the syrup make for an easy garnish.
